Thirteen Months Begins

October 18, 2011 - Serious Struggles

Never in my most vivid imagination did I ever consider that I could lose the woman dearer to me than life. Our love was so powerful, our romance so strong that it could endure anything—but could it? When life seemed the fullest, the future the most promising, our lives would suddenly change forever.

For the first time we would be challenged in a way that was so far beyond what we could manage on our own that it would cause us to cling to God as our only hope—our great and only hope.

Speaking of marriage, Jesus says in Mark 10:9, “What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” That gives us comfort in marriage—a clear statement from the Father that we are to make our marriages work, and that it is wrong for me or anyone else to try to separate me from my wife. God has joined us together Himself. We are therefore to cling to each other in any circumstance, battle any foe and emerge from the flames victorious—right?

Thirteen Months-The True Story of One Couple’s Journey of Passion, Life and Undying Love

But what do we do when death is on the line? What do we do when God says, “Trust me in this”, even when it hurts beyond belief? Do we trust Him—really?

How are we to pray, to hope, to be strong in the midst of tragedy, or when we find ourselves in the center of what may be our most dreaded fear? The most important thing to remember is that God is sovereign over everything, even death–especially death.

Do you doubt that?  Has God had you on a journey that you didn’t want to take? If so, you can comment here.
